Job Description


• Aerospace Clearwater is seeking a Lead Materials Engineering Technician to support the analytical lab activities within the Clearwater Materials Engineering organization. 
• This is a challenging, multi-dimensional role that requires the individual to multi-task across several concurrent activities and assignments and be able to effectively function in an environment where the work assignments are ever-changing assignments and priorities.

• The Lead Materials Engineering Technician role focuses on hands-on operation of a wide variety of analytical equipment to support both receiving inspection testing of production materials as well as engineering evaluations and failure analysis. 
• Primary work assignment will be in the Metals and Fluids Labs, but they may also support other labs such as Chemistry, Polymers, etc. on an as-needed basis. 
• The candidate will interface with other Technicians and Engineers, as well as personnel from other organizations.
• It is expected that the ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to schedule activities with minimal oversight.

• The ideal candidate will have considerable hands-on expertise with a wide variety of analytical instruments and techniques. 
• Special consideration will be given to expertise in metallurgical sample prep, tensile testing, or similar analytical lab experience. 
• Other areas of expertise may include failure investigation, chemistry, FTIR, SEM, etc.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in hands-on lab experience in metallurgical lab support or similar analytical laboratory experience
• US Citizen

Desired Attributes:

• Experience with aerospace materials & processes
• Experience with laboratory information management systems
• Experience with metallographic techniques for electronic components
• Experience in other laboratory techniques/instrumentation such as analytical chemistry, FTIR, SEM, etc.
