Responsibilities:
  • Review requirements documents and collaborate with cross-functional teams, test engineers, and system engineers to gather electrical and instrumentation design requirements for facility control and data acquisition systems.
  • Design and draft detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for control and data acquisition system cabinets, sensor cables, test cables, unit under test interfaces, electrical power measurement panels, breakout boxes, and associated components.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, and best practices, while meeting project specifications and requirements.
  • Select appropriate components, materials, and technologies for each design, considering functionality, safety, and cost-effectiveness factors.
  • Develop and modify designs based on feedback and review from peers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Assist in the creation of bill of materials (BOMs), obtain quotations. 
  • Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and system troubleshooting.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide insights to improve electrical and instrumentation systems' overall quality and performance. 
  • Work with the configuration management team to release the drawings to data management systems.
  • Preferred Qualification/Experience:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of low and voltage electrical systems, electrical measurement instruments, control systems, data acquisition systems, and sensors such as thermocouples, RTD, accelerometers, pressure transmitters, flow meters, etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and well-organized drawings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet milestones.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and address design challenges, reverse engineering, and optimize solutions.
  • Knowledge of measurement system accuracies and stack-up tolerance.
  • Experience in designing wiring diagrams involving National Instruments hardware, Signal Conditioning systems, PLC, and relay logic panels.
  • Familiarity with cable harness design using MIL-Spec, and industrial connectors.
  • Professional certifications related to electrical design and drafting.
