Job title: Applications Lab Technician
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Assist developers in the Protein Applications team in bench-top and pilot plant processing, e.g. ingredient scale-up, getting equipment ready before testing, post-test clean-up, and general lab housekeeping • Perform basic physical and analytical analysis • Ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline basis • Maintain ingredient and chemical storage in accordance with food safety guidelines • Maintain pilot plant equipment and all areas utilized by lab • Compliance with Client's Food Safety and EH&S policies • Document and protect all information to protect and ensure any and all patentable advances in technology as required by company policy. Have the ability to work with minimal supervision. • Must be able to work effectively with a team as well as independently and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Other Required Experience/Qualifications: • Associates Science Degree • Basic food ingredient and processing knowledge • Demonstrated problem-solving skills • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills • Takes initiative in technical problem solving • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint • Good communication skills, both written and oral. • Ability to work in a lab environment and maintain good food manufacturing practice • Ability to lift weights up to 20 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements of job
Additional Preferred Experience/Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field • Experience working in protein related projects
