• The position will be a member of the Aeronautics Sustainment Development team and participate in full lifecycle software development as part of a scrum team understanding the customer needs and use of the applications and designing improvements to meet those needs. • We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to coach and facilitate two Agile teams.
Responsibilities include:
• Agile Facilitation - Conduct all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand?ups, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and backlog refinement) with a focus on time?boxing, clarity, and purpose. • Team Enablement & Coaching - Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning. • Impediment Removal - Identify, track, and resolve internal and external impediments that threaten sprint goals (e.g., resource constraints, integration bottlenecks, security approvals). Escalate issues to appropriate program or governance bodies when necessary. • Metrics & Reporting - Capture and communicate Scrum metrics (Velocity, Burndown, Cycle Time, Cumulative Flow) to the Product Owner and program leadership. Use data to drive process improvements and predictability. • Release & Increment Planning - Coordinate with Release Train Engineer (if using SAFe) or Release Management to align sprint increments with integration, testing, and deployment schedules. • Support the creation of release notes and documentation packages. • Continuous Improvement - Lead retrospectives that generate actionable improvement items. • Implement and track adoption of process enhancements (e.g., Definition of • Ready refinements, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines). Capture lessons learned, best practices, and team artifacts in the enterprise knowledge base for future program transitions. • Risk & Dependency Management - Maintain a visible risk & dependency board for the team; work with Program Risk Management to mitigate high?impact risks.
• The Scrum Master will enable both teams to adopt SAFe best practices, improve delivery predictability, and continuously raise their Agile maturity while ensuring alignment with the Agile Release Train (ART) objectives.
Required skills:
• Understanding of software development practices (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, version control) • Strong facilitation skills, conflict resolution, and ability to coach both technical and non?technical stakeholders. • Proficiency with Agile metrics (velocity, burn?down, cumulative flow) utilizing Jira • Experience working in a SAFe ART environment, participating in PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops. • Ability to identify systemic impediments and drive root?cause analysis.
Desired skills:
• Proven experience guiding a team through a Kanban?to?Scrum transformation, including redefining workflow, WIP limits, and sprint cadence. • SAFe certified Scrum Master • Experience supporting two or more concurrent teams. |
