Job Description

•Client is seeking an electronic materials test technician.
• This position is at the Lead Engineering Technician level

• The position requires the hands on destructive analysis and evaluation of electrical components and other related devices.
• The candidate should be familiar with the basic construction and operating principals of common electrical components.
• Additional assets include knowledge in the use of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy, chemistry, identification of materials, de-processing of parts or assemblies, x-ray radiography (real time and film) including film interpretation and component electrical testing skills.

General Skills / Responsibilities:
• Perform component-level analyses of EEE (Electronic, Electric, and Electromechanical) components, primarily Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) and printed circuit board (PCB) component analysis. Specific operations may include, but are not limited to, electrical measurements (resistance, capacitance, etc.); performing dimensional measurements; Integrated Circuit (IC) de-processing; screening for prohibited materials; operation of multi-meters, real-time and film X-ray, hermeticity testers, and performing wet lab activities (i.e., component de-capsulation, object mounting & cross sectioning).
• Verify physical and chemical properties of production and engineering materials.
• Inspect and test electrical components.
• Use curve tracers, oscilloscopes, function generators, LCZ bridges, and general purpose test equipment.
• Perform both macro and micro photography.
• Meet with the customer to understand requirements of the work request and to resolve technical issues.
• Clearly articulate in verbal and written communication the technical concepts related to lab work and failure analysis.
• Interpret and follow military, industry and internal standards & specifications (e.g. MIL-STD-1580, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-STD-202, IPC-6012, IPC-6013).
• Complete technical reports, including photographic documentation, in a logical manner.
• Record and report analysis results using web-based LIMS software.
• Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment.

Basic Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED and a minimum 8 years of hands-on experience working with EEE components.

• US citizenship is required, no dual citizenship, due to contractual requirements.

Additional Qualifications:
• Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or related technical degree, preferred.

• Familiarity with chemical handling, storage and safety precautions.
• Awareness of and experience with safe laboratory practices, including proper procedures for handling, storage and disposal of chemicals, and operating potentially hazardous mechanical processes / equipment.
• Experience with cross-sectioning and chemical de-processing.
• Working knowledge of electronic circuitry and components, including capacitors, resistors, transistors, inductors, crystals, transformers, relays and LEDs.
• Ability to interpret specifications and schematics.
• Ability to develop skills to utilize specialized lab equipment and systems.
• Attention to detail, highly organized and able to multi-task.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and information.
• Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.
