Description: 
Data Center Hardware Planner Technician: Planning and process management for the sizing, placement and power connectivity for IT devices within a data center environment. 
• Candidate must be familiar with mainframe and server hardware 
• Basic knowledge of data center building infrastructure (CRACS, GENS, PDUs, UPS) 
• Moderate knowledge of Electrical Concepts (power distribution, redundancy, wiring) 
• Knowledge of Raised Floor Cabinets 
• Knowledge of IT/Network Equipment Cabling (Installation and maintenance of the structured cabling system) 
• Rack & Stacking of IT Equipment (Rack setup, layout, leveling and power strip setup, Ladder and Fiber Tray Construction) 
• Knowledge of Raised Floor Management Tools - Nlyte, AutoCAD, Panels Plus, Visio, Obtain 
• Ability to lift 10-15lbs 

PLANNING:
• Assess / monitor infrastructure capacity support for data center power and cooling elements. 
• Provide input on data center capacity requirements. 
• Review/Validate space/power/cooling/weight sizing requirements for new engagements and growth on existing customers and internal relocations (Space Plan Process) 
• Plan power requirements, connections, redundancy and infrastructure capabilities based on finalized ELE (Equipment Level Estimation) to ensure effective power load balancing. 
• Participate in the planning for Cage and Cabinet Security Infrastructure (Locking Options) 
• Manage Power and Cooling densities with Associated IT packaging (KW/Rack)
• Create and Distribute Power Distribution Unit (PDU) Panel Schedules

OPERATIONS:
• Provide and/or coordinate power installation activities/changes with client and client vendor staff to assemble cabinets according to layout design and installation requirements on the raised floor. Energize equipment and cabinets per data center Methods of Procedure (MOP). 
• Participate in the prioritization of power installs/de-installs to take into account escalations and customer schedules and align with client resource availability
• Print and Install power circuit labels on Floor Mounted Devices (FMDs) (Mainframe devices, cabinets) 
• Monitor activities, operation and usage within the data center to insure the use of proper IT disciplines and regulation compliance. 
• Participate with client in initiating work orders for data center facility issues (lights, leaks, etc.) 
• Participate with client on data center facility related issues, problem determination and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities
• Help maintain data center appearance and cleanliness.
• Coordinate cable mining of equipment and power cables that are no longer needed above/below the raised floor.
• Order tile cuts and Koldlocs according to floor and equipment specifications 
• Coordinate restoring vacated space to a usable state for provisioning to new customers. 
• Participate in power design changes to address changes in the data center infrastructure.
• Participate in on-site tours and raised floor briefings. 
• Manage Cold Aisle tiles to ensure adequate cooling.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT:
• Develop/Maintain floor layouts and 3D inventory/Power Connection Mapping for new/existing customer environments. (Nlyte, AutoCAD, Panels Plus, Visio, Obtain)
• Provide end user feedback and participate in administrative support for client data center facilities tool suite
