JOB FUNCTIONS: • Perform routine sampling of ongoing experiments. • Prepare samples for analysis, and analyze samples using a variety of analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, ICP. • Assist with general lab duties to include but not limited to, general lab cleaning, dishwashing, and preparation of stock solutions and media. • Monitor and fill consumable lab supplies to assist senior staff. • Participate in safety initiatives within the organization. • Enter process and analytical data into Microsoft Excel, Word documents, and a laboratory notebook. • Provide sample coverage on weekends and, occasionally, evenings. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Associate or 4-year college degree in a science field such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology. • Laboratory experience via academic or prior position(s). • Capable of independent work, but seeks clarification prior to starting experiments in order to provide deliverables. • Display good interpersonal skills. • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel. • Knowledge of standard safe laboratory practices. • Makes good use of time.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED CAPABILITIES: • Competency in aseptic culture techniques. • Maintain and propagate existing cell cultures using aseptic techniques.
ENVIRONMENT: • Biotechnology laboratory and pilot plant.
